Step 1. Navigating a user’s chat in order to mute or unmute them on Instagram is a relatively simple process.
Step 2. To start, open the Instagram app and click on the ‘Send’ or ‘Messenger’ icon, which is located on the far left side of your screen. This will open up all of your chats with other users.
Step 3. Once you have selected the desired user’s chat, tap on the top right corner of the chat. This will bring up a box with 3 options: which being ‘Mute Messages’, ‘Mute Calls’, and/or ‘Mute Chat Activity Notifications’ (depending on which device you are using).

Step 1. Begin by opening up the Instagram app on your device just as before and click or tap “Send” or “Messenger” as before at the top right of your screen.

Step 4. At the top right corner of this conversation window, tap again on those three dots (iPhone) or three lines (Android).

Remember: When you mute someone’s messages, posts or stories on Instagram, it doesn’t actually stop them from sending you notes. They can still reach out with notes and that won’t be affected. So while muting their other stuff might keep things out of your view, the notes will still show up.
