It’s great to set your goals high. Setting goals that are too high for the amount of time you have to accomplish them, though, can lead to disappointment.
Almost any TikTok user can accumulate 10,000 followers on the social media platform, as long as they devote enough thought, effort, and time to the project — and know the right ways to go about building engagement.
Doing it in five minutes, however, may be a stretch unless you’re already a celebrity with a dedicated fan base (for example, Taylor Swift could probably do it in 10 seconds). There’s only one effective method that will get you to 10K followers in five minutes if you’re an “ordinary” content creator, and we’ll discuss it at the end of this article.
First, though, let’s talk about the ten steps that will let you rapidly build a large TikTok fan base that boosts your popularity and importance on the app.
1. Pick a Lane
A TikTok account featuring videos on a diverse range of topics is unlikely to attract much attention. The reason is simple: most people decide to follow like-minded users who post the type of TikTok content they’re interested in.
If the topics of your TikTok videos swerve rapidly between home repair tutorials, pranks, and lip-synching, your account probably won’t satisfy surfers interested in any of those topics. Few will decide to follow you. If all of your posts focus on just one of those subjects, though, you’re likely to find lots of followers who want to see more content about that subject.
Trending topics, of course, will encourage more viewership and engagement, but no topic is too obscure or offbeat if you’re able to create terrific content about it. There are 2+ billion TikTok users, and plenty will be interested in the niche you choose; they’re the ones who will be your devoted followers over the long term.
2. Concentrate on Quality
Surfers scroll through their feeds quickly. If your TikTok posts aren’t high-quality content, potential followers will be gone before you know it. They may not even stop to watch. If they do, they may move on after a second or two.
Spend as much time and as many resources as necessary to ensure that your videos are unique and compelling, that they have a “hook” that grabs viewers immediately and keeps them interested throughout, and that you’re producing material that’s easy to watch and easy to listen to. No one will stick around for long if your content is difficult to watch.
3. Post Regularly and Predictably
When people are thinking about following you on TikTok, most will check out your TikTok profile to see the other posts you’ve uploaded. If they see a content desert, there’s little reason for them to hit the “follow” button; they won’t expect to see new posts on a regular basis. Give them a reason to believe that they don’t want to miss what you’ll create next.
It’s also a good idea to post at the same time every day (or every few days), to reassure followers that you’re still producing great content and keep them on board. You can check TikTok analytics to determine when most of your fans are on the app and viewing content; posting at those times will ensure that the majority of them will see your latest videos.
4. Pay Attention to Trends
You may not create videos that mesh well with trending topics on the app. Even so, monitoring TikTok trends can work to your advantage when you’re trying to build a following.
Sure, joining in on the latest challenges or dance trends will play to your strengths if you focus on pranks, dances, or humor. But using trending music (called “Sounds” on TikTok) in the background of any video can bring in new viewers who are searching for that music on the app. And if a trend matches the topics you post about, play it up.
5. Use Hashtags and Keywords Properly
TikTok users don’t just search for trending music. They search for the subjects they’re most interested in, and the best way to let them know that your content fits the bill is by including relevant hashtags and keywords in your video descriptions and captions. Trending hashtags help, too, if they fit.
6. Look For Viewers on Other Social Apps
Most people have accounts on other platforms — and their followers on other apps are likely to be interested in their TikTok content.
Cross-promote your videos and TikTok account wherever it’s allowed. You’ll probably bring in new viewers and fans who will help build your TikTok presence to new levels.
7. Use Other Sections of TikTok
Not everyone spends all of their time scrolling their feed. Many are viewing TikTok Stories, and many more are watching TikTok Live streams.
Repurpose your content for use in Stories, and once you hit 1,000 followers, start hosting Live sessions. You’ll see your engagement metrics soar and you’ll find new fans for your content, bringing you closer and closer to the 10,000 mark while giving your existing followers new reasons to bond with you.
8. Vary Your Content
Videos in the same niche can get boring after a while unless you find new ways to present the material. Experiment with different production techniques, use filters and effects where appropriate, and make use of attention-getting TikTok features like Duets and Stitches. You’ll not only attract more viewers and followers, but you’ll keep your fan base entertained and loyal.
9. Expand Your Visibility on the App
Find influencers and creators who focus on the same topics and post regularly in their comments sections. Others who share the interest will notice you and check out your account; the influencers may also notice you and be willing to collaborate on content that could earn you huge new audiences.
10. Buy TikTok Followers
Here’s the method we mentioned in our introduction.
Buying real TikTok followers is a fast and proven way to quickly boost fan bases on the app, and you can buy 10,000 or more of them with instant delivery. Purchased followers show the TikTok algorithms that your account is becoming more popular, and the algos respond by giving your content greater exposure across the platform. That will get you to 10K followers in a hurry.
There are several important facts to know before taking this approach, though.
- Most vendors sell fake followers generated with bots and linked to fake accounts. Those interactions won’t help with organic growth, they’re quickly deleted from your account, and you could be penalized or banned for using them.
- Purchased followers won’t boost engagement or interaction with your account; they’ll only “goose the numbers,” even if they’re real TikTok users with real accounts on the app.
- Only reputable social media services can deliver legitimate TikTok followers that work and stick in your account, and those providers aren’t easy to find.
