5 Methods For Getting More Viewers On TikTok Live

There are enormous benefits to running popular TikTok Live streams.

  • You can introduce new viewers to your content, creating lots of new engagement for your TikTok videos and bringing in a boatload of new followers for your TikTok account.
  • You can promote products that you have for sale in your TikTok store or those offered by sponsors and partners.
  • You can earn good money by receiving TikTok gifts from appreciative fans.
  • You can build your overall TikTok presence, as well as your influence and importance on the social media platform.

The key to realizing those benefits, of course, is bringing lots of TikTok users into your Live sessions. Here are some of the ways to do it.

How To Get More Viewers on TikTok Live

1. Make Your TikTok Live Shows “Must-See” Events

Unless you’re already a big-name celebrity, chances are slim that people will automatically be attracted to your Live stream simply for the chance to watch you talk or answer questions.

Whatever you plan on doing in the session, it should be interesting, creative, or funny enough to prevent people from tuning out and looking for a different stream, of course. But it should also be so compelling that your viewers will hit the “Share” icon and invite their friends to watch — and such a great viewing experience that users will be sure to attend your next Live streams.

In other words, don’t consider your TikTok Live streams a “throwaway.” Treat them as the important TikTok content they are.

Spend plenty of time meticulously planning out your shows, and take advantage of your knowledge or talent to provide viewers with fascinating information, unexpected twists, and “must-see” moments. Some of those moments may happen organically, but you need to know how you’re going to trigger them.

Live shows can and should be fun, even if you’re trying to sell products. There’s way too much competition for eyeballs — and there are way too many benefits at stake — to just mail in your performance.

2. Pay Special Attention to the First Minute of Your Stream

The cliché is true: you only get one chance to make a first impression.

Some viewers, naturally, will join your session throughout. Assuming you’ve promoted it widely (more on that in a moment), though, it’s crucial to grab them in the first 30 or 60 seconds of the stream. Lead with your most compelling presentation, bit, or joke so the people who tune in to watch are hooked quickly. Otherwise, the temptation to find a different stream will be powerful.

If possible, spread those “oh wow!” moments evenly through the session to keep viewers’ attention and make sure they stay until you’re done.

3. Promote, Promote, Promote

You can’t go live unless you have at least 1,000 TikTok followers, so you already have a built-in potential audience. Make sure all of your followers know that you’ll be doing a Live session by promoting it well in advance in all of your TikTok content.

Tease what they’ll be missing if they don’t show up — and be sure to post teasers on all of your other social media accounts, too. If you can show replays of your streams on other platforms or sites, so much the better.

4. Interact, Interact, Interact

Broadcast and streaming shows are one-way methods of communication, but online streams can be much more. Take advantage of the two-way possibilities.

Greet viewers when they join your TikTok Live, respond to their comments in real time (when appropriate for your content), and when someone contributes a thought or comment that’s worth sharing more widely, give them a shoutout in one of your TikTok posts.

The more you can make your followers and viewers feel special and part of the “action,” the stronger the bond you’ll build with them. The ones you interact with will probably be back for your next show and tell their friends about it, and others may be inspired to participate in your Live sessions with the hope that they’ll get shoutouts as well.

5. Keep Things Varied and Unpredictable

Don’t fall into the trap of having a predictable formula for your Live streams. As long as you keep the content compelling and high-quality, mixing things up will prevent your shows from becoming stale in your viewers’ eyes.

Make use of guest hosts and collaborations with other TikTok content creators, have contests and giveaways, host a multi-part series of Live sessions that keep viewers coming back to see the next installment; there are many ways to have fun by “putting on a show” every time you go live. Your viewers will appreciate it — and your audience will keep growing!
