Creating A Seamless Music Loop On TikTok Videos

3 min read

Most of the songs in the TikTok Sounds library aren’t very long, but you still might want to create a TikTok post that uses only the song’s short “hook” (its most memorable part) repeated several times underneath the video component of your content.

Or, you might be making a dance challenge video, and need to have the memorable song from the original TikTok content play several times in a row so you can repeat the trademark dance movements two or three times in succession.

What you’re wishing for is called a music loop. Those used to be extremely difficult to create in the long, long ago, before digital editing — but these days, it’s just a matter of knowing which controls to use to loop a song (or just a portion of a song).

We’ve got the answers.

How To Loop Music on TikTok

If you have a specific sound in mind, particularly if you’re doing a dance challenge video, it’s smart to find the TikTok content that used it, tap on the name of the sound (it’s at the bottom of the video), and click the “Use Sound” button at the bottom of the next window. That will open the Create screen.

If you’re not ready to produce the video right away, you can instead click “Add to Favorites” after clicking on the sound’s name. That will save it to your TikTok profile grid, and you can add it to your video whenever you’re ready to record.

If you don’t have a song preference yet, tap the “+” icon at the bottom of your home screen, and you’ll be taken to the Create page. Click “Add sound” at the top of the screen to choose the music you want to use.

Now that you have the song, let’s loop it.

  1. Record the rest of your video and tap the checkmark when you’re finished.
  2. You’re now on the Editing screen, where you should click the “Effects” (starbursts) icon on the right-hand menu.
  3. Scroll across the menu in the middle of the next page to find the “Time” icon, and tap it.
  4. Preview your video on the screen and stop it when you get to the audio section you want to use.
  5. Find and click the “Repeat” icon toward the bottom of the screen, and then tap “Save” at the top right corner.

Your song has been looped.

Be aware, though, that you can’t use this process to repeat long songs to make them more than a minute in length. Because of copyright restrictions, TikTok will mute the sound after 60 seconds, even if you’ve looped it.

Plenty of stand-alone video editors make sound editing even more precise, but this method lets you create a good-sounding loop in TikTok without ever leaving the app.
