TikTok’s algorithms are very good at tailoring the content of your “For You” page (FYP) to match your interests and preferences — but they’re certainly not perfect.
At times, you may get bored with the TikTok videos you’re shown on the FYP. A smart way to find terrific posts that you might not otherwise see is to find a user whose interests (or sense of humor) match yours. The TikTok posts they’ve liked would probably be ones that you’d like, too.
Even better: seeing which posts they’ve reposted. A repost indicates not only that a TikTok user has enjoyed viewing a video, but thought it was so good that it should be shared with others.
You’ll see some of those reposts in your “Following” feed, of course. Activity by the TikTok accounts you’ve decided to follow, including reposts, will show up there.
There’s a more efficient way to do the detective work and uncover a treasure trove of reposts, though. It’s finding a list of all the videos that a like-minded user has reposted for their fans to enjoy.
Don’t worry about buying a Sherlock Holmes hat and an oversized magnifying glass to get the job done. This detective work is simple.
How to See Someone’s Reposts on TikTok
Before we get to the step-by-step, you should be aware of the one limitation this method has. If a user has changed their account setting to private, their reposts aren’t publicly viewable anywhere. You can only see reposts from public accounts.
With that in mind, here’s how to do it.
- Find the TikTok profile page of a user whose reposts you’re interested in checking out. You can do that by searching for their TikTok username, or tapping their profile picture on the right-hand side of a video they’ve posted.
- Look in the middle of the screen for the row of icons right above their TikTok content grid.
- Tap the “Reposts” icon (two arrows pointing up and down, in somewhat of a circle).
You’ll now see clickable thumbnails of all of the videos that they’ve reposted.
Checking out a user’s reposts (and their other interactions) is also a great benchmark to use when deciding if someone’s worth following. You might stumble on other content creators’ work that way and decide to follow them, too!
