It’s simple to leave a comment on a TikTok post when it scrolls through your feed.
It’s a great feeling when you create your own TikTok video and it starts receiving boatloads of comments.
But what if you have second thoughts about the comment you left on TikTok content you saw hours or days ago, or you’re starting to get nasty, abusive, or just unwanted comments on the post you uploaded?
No worries. The app lets you quickly and easily take care of both situations. Here’s how to do it.
How To See and Delete Comments You’ve Made on TikTok
The starting point, as it is for most activities that let you change or clean up your TikTok presence, is in your TikTok settings.
- From your home screen, tap the “Profile” icon in the bottom right corner to visit your TikTok profile page.
- Open the profile menu by clicking the “three horizontal lines” icon at the top right.
- Choose “Settings and privacy” on the popup window that appears.
- Select “Activity center.”
- Click “Comment history,” and you’ll see a full list of comments you’ve left on TikTok posts.
- To see a post and the comment you left, tap the entry. Your comment will appear at the top of the list; if you want to remove the comment, long-press on it and choose “Delete.”
Unfortunately, TikTok doesn’t give you the option to delete all of your comments at once. You’ll have to take down each one individually.
How to See and Delete Comments Others Make on Your Posts
Comment sections can get personal and even nasty on any post, on any social media platform. If you’ve discovered that yours has become a zoo, here’s how to handle an unwanted TikTok comment.
- Pull up your posted video. The easiest way to do it is to find and click on it in the content grid on your profile page.
- Tap the “Speech bubble” icon (three dots contained in a circle) on the right side of your video.
- The full list of comments will be shown in a popup window. To delete one, just press and hold on the comment you want to remove, and choose “Delete” from the next popup.
- You can also delete multiple comments at one time. Tap the “Filters” icon next to the “x” at the top of the list, and you’ll have the option to select the comments you want to remove. Click the button beside each one, and then hit “Delete” at the bottom of the screen. They’re gone.
If you prefer instead to get rid of all comments on the video and prevent any new ones from being posted, tap the “three-dot” icon (dots without the speech bubble) at the bottom of the post’s menu list. Choose “Privacy settings” and then turn off the “Allow comments” toggle switch. All previous comments will be hidden and no new ones will be allowed.
Free-for-alls in TikTok comment sections can unfortunately be part of life on the app. Thankfully, if one breaks out, they’re easy to control — and people will focus on your great video rather than the debate about it.
