Free TikTok Followers? There Are Better Ways To Find Fans

6 min read

Almost every TikTok user would love to have more followers.

  • Adding followers makes them feel good about the work they put into creating their TikTok videos, as a larger fan base sees their content.
  • Adding lots of TikTok followers helps them become more popular, influential, and important on the social media platform.
  • The more followers they have, the easier it is for them to earn money from their TikTok presence.

That makes it easy to understand why TikTok account owners get excited when seeing an ad or a Google search listing promising “free TikTok followers!”

If this scenario describes you, hit the brakes. Deals that promise free TikTok fans are usually not worth pursuing, and some may be scams.

You may have to install another app — which might steal data from your phone or account — to get the free interactions. You may have to answer a lot of intrusive survey questions first or give up your email address to spammers.

Or if the free offer is made by websites selling large numbers of followers, they’ll only send you a few as a sample; a handful of followers isn’t going to do much good, and as someone else once said, they’re not sending their best, either. There’s also a good chance the samples were generated with bots and will disappear as soon as the TikTok algorithms find them.

If you want to work with a social media marketing service that can boost your TikTok following quickly and effectively, we’ll have a bonus tip at the end of this article.

But readers searching for free followers would be smarter to use TikTok growth methods that maximize the number of new fans your TikTok posts bring in.

Here’s how to do it.

Have an Intelligent Content Strategy

Let’s be honest. Posting videos of your toddler and your dinner at a local restaurant won’t bring in many new followers. Your family and friends may be interested, but no one else will be.

And posting a couple of times when you sign up for a TikTok account and then going months between videos isn’t going to make anyone eager enough to follow you so they can see your new content.

Planning and executing a smart content strategy is the best way to build a larger and more dedicated TikTok fan base.

1. Choose a Topic

We’ve already established that you shouldn’t just post random videos on whatever subject comes to mind — at least if you’re trying to build your follower count. People follow TikTok content creators who reliably produce videos that they love. The natural conclusion: you’ll find lots of fans among people who are into the same topic that you are.

It doesn’t have to be a trending subject or one that’s the focus of millions of TikTok posts; with 2+ billion people on the app, there are plenty of like-minded potential followers to attract. Just stick to the subject; if you ever become a TikTok influencer or personality, you’ll have plenty of leeway to mix in a video of your family or your favorite sports team. Hold off until then.

2. Produce High-Quality Content

Make your videos must-watch content: high-quality and compelling. After all, people who are interested in your topic still won’t view content that’s boring or hard to watch.

Use the best phone or equipment you can afford, plan and write your content to be as fun or interesting to watch as possible, and learn how to edit your videos to tell a great story. There are no “throw-away” posts when you’re trying to build an audience; it’s too easy for people to scroll past your video in half a second (or decide to unfollow you if they’ve already become your fan).

3. Post Regularly and at the Right Time

We’ve already mentioned the importance of creating and uploading content regularly. People want to follow an active account, not one that hasn’t provided fresh material for weeks or months. Adding content on a regular schedule is the best way to be sure you don’t forget to post, and also tells both followers and potential followers when to expect something new.

It’s also smart to post at the “best” times. You can check TikTok analytics to find out when your followers are online; uploading then will ensure that most of your fans will see your content and engage with it. Their activity will show the TikTok algorithms that your post is attracting attention and becoming popular, and those algorithms decide how much visibility your video deserves.

4. Use Keywords and Hashtags

The proper use of hashtags and keywords in your post descriptions can bring in new TikTok search viewers.

Don’t use too many hashtags; 3-6 should do it. Include relevant hashtags that tell searchers what your content is about, and if trending hashtags fit your video, use them as well (a lot of people search for trending material). Keywords should be commonly searched phrases for your topic.

While we’re on the subject of trends, try to use trending sounds if they match your subject, too. Surprisingly, there are lots of searches for videos that use trending songs.

Put Yourself Out There

Not all potential followers will come to you. You can bring in new fans by going to them.

  • Promote your new video or your TikTok profile on other social apps where you have accounts. People who follow you elsewhere are the ones most likely to find and follow you on TikTok.
  • Take clips of your videos and turn them into TikTok Shorts. That’s another area of the platform where you can find new followers for your account.
  • Comment regularly on posts from influencers and popular content creators who concentrate on the same subject that you do. You’ll eventually attract attention from other commenters who love the creator’s content and decide to check out yours.
  • Try to get to know those popular users and collaborate with them on content. If you can swing it, that’s valuable exposure for you and your account. Similarly, run contests for user-generated content (UGC) to post on your own account; the winners will give you a shoutout when they post to their accounts. At the very least, do Duets or Stitches to get more attention.
  • Enter TikTok challenges or create your own. That’s another ready-made opportunity for additional visibility.

Those tactics will help maximize your TikTok follower base, although, since we’re being honest in this article, the amount you’ll bring in will probably never make you powerful and important on the app.

To bring in huge numbers of potential new, organic followers, you’ll probably need the help of an experienced, reputable TikTok growth service. iDigic can help you boost your fan base and engagement on the app; click here to learn about buying TikTok followers and other engagements.
