In 2022, TikTok introduced a “Stories” feature very similar to the one that became so popular on Instagram and Snapchat.
You can only upload short videos (maximum of 15 seconds) to Stories. If you want to post a longer video to the Stories section of the social media platform, it has to be split into segments. TikTok Stories only remain live for 24 hours, after which they’re deleted automatically.
Why only 24 hours? The feature was originally designed to showcase a “day in the life” of TikTok users, with the idea that they’d post more content the next day. As most social app users know, it’s become much more than that. Many creators use Stories to promote content, products, or Live shows, to answer followers’ questions, or just to have fun.
Most users never have to worry about deleting one of their TikTok Stories, because the videos have such a short shelf life. If you have second thoughts about a Story you’ve posted or have to delete it for some other reason, though, no worries.
Deleting a TikTok Story
Removing a TikTok Story from your feed is as simple as 1-2-3.
- Tap on the “Profile” icon on the bottom right of your home screen, and then click on your TikTok profile picture near the top of the page.
- Your Stories will open; click on the one you want to delete to open it full screen.
- Tap the “Share” icon (a right arrow) at the bottom of the Story, choose the “Delete,” option, and confirm.
Your Story is gone. Now, why not create a new one?
