Users who flocked to TikTok in its early days often discovered a “good” problem.
There were so many terrific short-form videos on the social media platform — and it was so easy to save them for later viewing — that their TikTok profile was overrun with all sorts of content. It could be virtually impossible to quickly find the TikTok posts they were looking for.
A solution was introduced in 2021. TikTok collections (also known as playlists) allowed users to categorize their saved videos, making it dramatically easier to find and organize specific TikTok videos they’d bookmarked.
About TikTok Collections
The collections feature is simple to use. There’s a “Bookmarks” icon on your profile; when you tap it, you’ll see all of the content you’ve favorited. Clicking “Collections” gives you the option to “Create new collection,” give it a title, and choose the ones to add to your collection. After that, just hit “Add Videos” and you’re done.
To move content between playlists, there’s a “Manage videos” link that lets you choose videos to relocate and the folder you want to move them to. Couldn’t be easier.
But what if you’ve saved vids to a collection for a specific reason (for example, to give you ideas for a video project you’ve completed), you no longer find the content enjoyable to watch, or you simply want to “clean up” your profile? TikTok lets you quickly remove collections.
How To Quickly Delete TikTok Collections
One important thing to know: deleting collections doesn’t mean you’ll lose the videos they contain. The vids will just be moved to your profile’s favorites grid without being categorized. If you want to keep them organized elsewhere, be sure to move them to a different playlist (as described above) before deleting the rest of the collection.
Here’s what to do next.
- Visit your TikTok profile page, tap the “Bookmarks” icon (it looks like a flag), and then choose “Collections.”
- Click the name of the collection you want to delete, tap the “Share” icon (the arrow pointing to the right), and choose “Delete collection.” You’ll be asked to confirm the request; hit “Delete” again.
You’re done. The folder is gone, and all of the videos it contained have been combined with your other uncategorized posts. They remain available to be moved to any other collections you might create, though, so remember — stay organized. Your favorites grid will probably fill up quickly once again.
