How To See Who Saved Your TikTok Content

This is one of the easiest questions we’re regularly asked: “Can you see who saved your TikTok video?”

Unfortunately, the answer is no. The app provides no way to find out who has downloaded your TikTok content; in fact, you can’t even tell whether anyone has saved your vids. That’s the way the system has been designed.

However, you can tell who has bookmarked your posts and who has liked them. And if your concern is that someone “problematic” (for example, an ex, a suspected scammer, or a competitive influencer) is downloading your videos improperly or illegally, you can quickly prevent all users from saving your content.

Let’s look at how each of those functions works.

Viewing Your TikTok Engagements

The social media platform doesn’t just prevent TikTok users from seeing who’s downloaded their videos, it also doesn’t reveal who’s watched them. You can only see specifics on three types of engagements: likes, comments, and bookmarks. Here’s how to find them.

Seeing Who’s Liked and Commented on Your TikTok Post

The TikTok usernames of people who’ve liked your TikTok video are hard to find without knowing their secret location.

  1. Click on the “Profile” icon at the bottom right of your TikTok screen.
  2. Tap the thumbnail of the video you’re interested in.
  3. When it comes up, click on the Comments icon (three dots in a while bubble).
  4. The pop-up window is set to “Comments,” but if you tap on the “Likes” tab right at the top, you’ll see a rundown of all the users who have liked your post.

If you reset that window to show “Comments,” you can also see everyone who’s commented on your video.

Seeing Who’s Bookmarked Your TikTok Post

It takes a bit more work to find the users who’ve added your video to their favorites.

  1. Click on the “Inbox” icon at the bottom of your TikTok screen.
  2. Tap the “Activity” icon (a bell in a red circle).
  3. On the next screen, click the “Activity” heading at the top, and a drop-down menu will appear.
  4. Choose “Likes and Favorites,” and you can scroll your notifications to see all of the people who bookmarked your post (they’re indicated with a red heart).

Preventing Your Videos from Being Downloaded

There’s no way to stop an individual user from saving your video to their device unless you block them completely, and they could just create another TikTok account to avoid the block. You can easily prevent all downloads of your content, though.

  1. Tap the “Profile” icon at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Click the menu button on your TikTok profile page; it’s in the top right corner with three horizontal lines. Choose “Settings and privacy” from the pop-up.
  3. Select the “Privacy” option, scroll down and click on “Downloads,” and then toggle the “Video downloads” button to the left, which turns all downloads off.

It would be ideal if you could tailor your preferences even further, but that’s the best you can do to stop people from “stealing” your content and using it for purposes you don’t approve of.

Spicy TikTok: It’s Probably Not What You Think

TikTok’s terms and conditions and Community Standards prohibit content that includes nudity (or implied nudity), sexually suggestive or explicit material, and non-consensual intimate imagery.
