How To Turn On Profile Views On TikTok

3 min read

It could be interesting to see who’s viewed your TikTok profile over the last month, and the social media platform lets TikTok users enable that feature.

It comes with a catch that you should consider first, though. While you’ll gain the ability to see who’s checked out your profile — you’ll also be giving up the right to visit other people’s profiles invisibly.

Why Would You Want to See Your Profile Views?

Once you’ve turned on profile views, you’ll get a good picture of who’s checked out your TikTok account in the last 30 days. That can be helpful if you’re trying to build your fan base on the app.

  • It lets you see the types of users you’ve been attracting, which might give you a better handle on what kind of TikTok content is working for you.
  • You can compare your profile view history with your follower list to get an idea of which type of users you’re converting from viewers to fans.
  • You can see if a particular user (a former love interest, for example?) has taken a peek at your profile to see what you’re up to these days.
  • Those trying to build a personal or company brand on TikTok can glean additional information about the people interested in what they’re marketing.

You won’t get a complete list, though, and you might have to pay a price for access to your profile views. That’s because turning on profile views enables two-way visibility.

In other words:

  • You’ll no longer be invisible when you visit other peoples’ profiles. Anyone who’s also turned on profile views will see that you’ve checked them out on TikTok, which might not be ideal if you’re taking a peek at the accounts of former friends or romantic partners.
  • The activity of everyone who hasn’t turned on profile views in their accounts remains invisible. They won’t show up on the list of people who’ve looked at your profile, so the list of your profile visitors will be incomplete.

There’s somewhat good news, though. You can change your profile views option at any time, so if you turn it on to gather the information you need and quickly turn it off again, any record of your profile visits will be gone after 30 days.

Turning on Your TikTok Profile Views

You’re only allowed to turn on profile views if you’re over 18 and have fewer than 5,000 followers. If you’re still interested, here’s how.

  1. Open the app and go to your profile screen by tapping the “Profile” icon at the bottom right.
  2. Click the “Menu” icon (three horizontal lines) at the top right on the profile page.
  3. Choose “Settings and privacy” and then click on “Privacy.”
  4. Find the option labeled either “Profile views” or “Viewers” (depending on your TikTok version) Toggling that switch to “on” enables profile views.

And remember, you can always use the same switch to turn the feature off if you change your mind, or if you’ve seen everything you want to see and want to become invisible again.

Spicy TikTok: It’s Probably Not What You Think
