The “repost” feature on TikTok is invaluable.
It allows you to share a video you’ve seen with friends, family, and other followers for their enjoyment. It can also boost engagement with your fan base and enhance visibility for your account. Reposting is simple; you just have to hit the “share” arrow near the bottom of the right side of your screen, and then tap “repost.”
Occasionally, though, you’ll hit the wrong button and share a TikTok post by mistake. Or later on, you might have second thoughts about having reposted a TikTok video that doesn’t fit your brand or values.
What can you do to fix the mistake and “un-repost” on TikTok? It depends on when you realize your mistake.
How To Immediately Delete a TikTok Repost
Un-reposting is simple if you’ve tapped the wrong icon and the video in question is still on your screen. Simply hit “share” again, and the first option you’ll see allows you to “remove repost.” Tap the icon, and your followers will no longer see the clip in your account or on their TikTok feeds.
Chances are good, though, that you’ve already moved on and the video you’ve reposted is long gone from your feed. No worries; you can find the content and delete your repost quickly and easily.
How To Find and Delete a TikTok Report
Before you can un-repost a video, you have to find it. There are three ways to do it.
- You can use the TikTok search function to try to locate the post, but that’s a hit-or-miss proposition at best. Your chances of locating the video by searching for it are slim.
- If you enjoyed the video so much that you bookmarked it, just look for it in your profile (accessible from the “Profile” icon at the bottom right of the screen) and hit the “favorites” icon (it looks something like a bookmark). You’ll see a thumbnail of the reposted video there, and tapping it will display the video full-screen.
- The simplest path for most people is to look in their profile for the double-arrow “repost” icon (it’s right in the middle of the screen). Hit it and you’ll see the vid you’ve reposted.
The hard work’s over. You can now hit the share button and the first option you’ll see is “remove repost.” Tap it and you’re done—your repost has been deleted!
