Is There A Way To AirPlay TikTok On My TV?

2 min read

Four decades ago, it was commonly believed that there were two types of people: “PC people” and “Mac people.” The world has certainly changed since then — at least, in most ways — but even today, it could be said that there are two types of people: “iPhone people” and “Android people.”

Why does the divide still exist? Apple’s proprietary technology makes it necessary for some of the smartphone features that iOS device users take for granted to be mimicked with a different method by those who use Android phones.

One example is AirPlay.

Those using iPhones, iPads, and Macs can easily use this Apple wireless streaming technology to simultaneously broadcast movies, music, and photos on their compatible televisions, speakers, and similar devices, and mirror their screens on a larger display. Users with Androids have to use other tech to accomplish the same tasks.

One cool use of AirPlay is to view TikTok videos and Live streams on a big TV. It will work for anyone with an iOS device and either an Apple TV or a smart TV that accommodates the AirPlay wireless signal. (TVs manufactured by Samsung, LG, Vizio, and Sony are among the smart models that can receive AirPlay signals.)

Here’s how to do it.

How To AirPlay TikTok

Before starting, make sure your smart TV is compatible with AirPlay, and that both your TV and iOS device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

  1. Open the app and find the TikTok content you want to watch on the TV or larger screen.
  2. Tap the “Share” icon (a sweeping right arrow) in the right-hand menu, and choose “Cast,” “AirPlay,” or a similarly-named option.
  3. A popup will show you a list of AirPlay-compatible devices you can send the TikTok screen to; select the one you want to watch on.
  4. The AirPlay session will open on your TV. To end it, tap “Disconnect” at the bottom of your phone’s screen.

The process works essentially the same way for most TikTok users with Android phones or TVs that aren’t AirPlay compatible. If you have no luck, there are plenty of third-party screen mirroring apps available that will do the job just as well.
