Looking For Someone On TikTok? Here’s How To Find Them

Many people sign up for an account on a social media platform so they can share their videos, thoughts, and time with friends and family members online.

Once you have an account on TikTok, though, it can be overwhelming to see the flood of content streaming through your feed. How in the world can you find a few specific people and follow them or add them as a friend on the app?

For that matter, what if there’s a popular TikTok content creator or celebrity you want to follow on the app, or a potential business contact you want to connect with? Where do you even start?

Don’t panic. It’s easy to find someone on TikTok. You just have to start with a single piece of information.

Finding Someone by Using Their TikTok Username or Real Name

This one’s pretty easy.

  1. From the TikTok home screen, tap the search icon (a magnifying) glass in the top right-hand corner.
  2. Start typing their username into the search bar.
  3. You may see their TikTok account pop up even before you finish typing; otherwise, finish entering the username and tap “Search.”
  4. If you’re using a valid username, it will appear in the results and you can click it to be taken to their TikTok profile. From there, you can watch their videos or follow them.

If you only know their name and not their username, search for them by their actual name instead. They may use their real name as their username, and you’ll see them in your search results if they do.

Finding Someone by Using Your Phone’s Contact List

This is a great way to add all of your friends and family after you’ve signed up as a TikTok user.

  1. Visit your own profile on the app (tap the “Profile” icon at the bottom right of the home screen).
  2. Click the “Add Friends” icon (a person with a “+” sign) in the middle of the screen.
  • If you’re doing this for the first time, tap “Find contacts” and the app will ask permission to sync the existing contacts on your phone or device. You’ll see a list of your phone’s apps, click “Contacts” and follow the instructions, and then return to TikTok to see the full list of the people you can follow.
  • If you’ve synced your contacts before, you’ll see a list of the ones you haven’t followed yet, along with other suggested friends you might want to add. You can also sync to your Facebook account on that page, and find FB friends that you might want to follow on TikTok.

If you know someone’s phone number but they’re not in your phone’s contact list, just add them into your phone and you’ll then be able to add them on TikTok as well.

That should give you a good start at building more connections and a larger fan base on the platform. If you want to boost your follower count even more, iDigic can help. Check out our follower growth service and grow your contacts, popularity, and influence on TikTok quickly and effectively!

Spicy TikTok: It’s Probably Not What You Think

TikTok’s terms and conditions and Community Standards prohibit content that includes nudity (or implied nudity), sexually suggestive or explicit material, and non-consensual intimate imagery.
