Lots of Trending TikTok Videos Refer to “6” — Who Is He?

The average TikTok user spends about an hour a day scrolling their feed. If that describes you, you’ve almost certainly come across lots of TikTok posts with a common theme: “I got (verb) by 6.” The verb in the middle could be “shot,” “sued,” “mugged,” or most commonly “deported.”

Who is the mysterious “6?” Why did he do all of these terrible things? And what’s this TikTok trend all about?

The answers are difficult to come by, but we’ve got them.

Who is “6” on TikTok?

While many content creators prefer to stay anonymous on the social media platform, this one doesn’t.

Music producer Victor Jones is a North Carolina-based music producer; the handle he uses in the industry is “prodby668,” and “6” is short for “668.”Jones has uploaded a number of songs to TikTok, some of which went viral. Perhaps the best-known one was “prolly my spookiest beat.” He’s produced for many other artists as well.

In July 2023, “prodby668” began uploading beats to TikTok. The majority begin with a girl using what became known as his producer tag, the “I got (verb) by 6” that we’ve mentioned. The most popular beat, called “Ian sleep yet,” contained the “I got deported by six” tag. It struck a chord with users and became a sensation.

The trend escalated shortly after that, when Jones posted a video compilation of his tags, with the music played underneath a Roblox character who changed his clothing each time a different tag was played. That TikTok video earned more than four million views in its first month, and “prodby668” uploaded several new, similar posts soon after that.

It didn’t take long for users to jump into the action. Some created animated videos using the “6” music compilation, others showed themselves changing outfits in time with the music’s tag changes, and still others lip-synched the music or created new Roblox videos to accompany it.

The trend has spread to other social apps since then, but it regularly trends on TikTok — and “6” will undoubtedly deserve at least a small mention in the app’s growing lore.
