Pinned TikTok Videos: What Are They?

2 min read

Think of your TikTok feed as a bulletin board on the wall, and you’ll be able to visualize the concept of pinned videos. When you want to put something front-and-center so it doesn’t get overlooked, you grab a pushpin or thumbtack and stick it on top of everything else.

That’s the idea behind “pinning” a TikTok post. It’s a method of making sure that the videos you want your audience to notice are stuck right at the top of your TikTok profile, above all the other content you have created. It makes sure that visitors see exactly what you want them to see as soon as they open your page.

For content creators and influencers, that might be a video that was a huge hit and went viral. For businesses, it could be a post that showcases the company’s brand, products, or services. Either way, pinning a video can let any TikTok user put their best foot forward, convincing people to check out other videos they’ve produced and become one of their TikTok followers.

You’re allowed to pin as many as three videos at the top of your profile page, and it’s extremely easy to do.

How To Pin a TikTok Video

If you’re not sure which of your posts you should pin, that’s fine. You can change them as often as you’d like. Seeing which ones trigger the most engagement or bring in the most new fans can tell you which videos deserve to stay pinned and which should be replaced.

Here’s what to do:

  1. Find the video that you want to pin. The easiest way to find it is to go to your profile page (by clicking the “Profile” icon at the bottom right of your home screen) and search for the post in the content grid that’s located in the middle of the page.
  2. Click on the video’s thumbnail photo to open it in full screen.
  3. Tap the “Share” icon (a sweeping right arrow) on the right side of the video.
  4. Click “Pin” in the popup window that opens. Your video is now pinned.

To unpin a video, look for the “Unpin” option in the same place you found the “Pin” icon. The last video you pinned is the one that appears at the top of your profile; you can pin and unpin your posts at will to ensure that your “best” video appears on top.

Promoting your best content is one of the best ways to get people who’ve just discovered you to engage with your TikTok content and follow your TikTok account. Take advantage of it!
