Pinning A TikTok Video: Simple And Effective

You’ve created a terrific video and want more people to see it? You want potential followers to immediately see what type of content they can expect if they become a fan of your TikTok account? You have a business and you want to showcase your best products or services?

Pinning a video to your TikTok account will get the job done.

When you pin a video, a “Pinned” badge appears at the top of the thumbnail photo, telling visitors to your TikTok profile that you believe the video deserves extra attention. It also remains at the top of your content grid, no matter how many other TikTok posts you upload, so it almost demands attention when someone lands on your profile page.

“Pinning” has been a useful feature on many social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, for many years. Here’s how to do it on TikTok.

Four Quick Steps for Pinning a TikTok Video

Once you know which post you want to pin:

  1. Open the app, and tap the “Profile” icon at the bottom right of the home screen to reach your TikTok profile screen.
  2. Find the video you’ll be pinning in the content grid, located in the middle of the screen.
  3. Tap the video so it opens full-screen, and then click the three-dot icon on the right side of the vid (not the three dots in a bubble, which is for comments).
  4. Scroll through the popup window that appears, and tap “Pin.”

You’ve now pinned your video, and it will stay at the top of your content grid until you decide to unpin it (you do that the same way you pinned it, but by tapping ‘Unpin” instead.

You’re allowed to have a total of three videos pinned at any one time. If you’ve hit the maximum, you’ll have to unpin one before you can pin a different one. They’ll appear in your grid in the order they were pinned; in other words, your most recent pinned post will appear first.

Pinning is an excellent way to encourage visitors to watch the videos you want them to watch. Give it a try!
