The longer you have a TikTok account, the more likely it is that you’ll want to want to remove one or more of your TikTok fans.
It might be a friend with whom you’ve had a falling out. It could be a random TikTok user who regularly trolls you, leaves insults in your posts’ comments, or won’t stop DMing you. It could be a jerk who keeps spamming you. There are lots of reasons to get fed up and delete someone from your follower list.
The process isn’t difficult — but first, be sure you really want to remove the people who annoy you.
Remember, your popularity, influence, and importance on the social media platform depend largely on the size of your fan base, as does the size of the audience for your TikTok posts. Before starting to unfollow people, remember that you could also be hurting your TikTok presence when doing it.
Deleting only one or two problematic followers won’t do that much damage, though. Here’s how it’s done.
How to Remove a TikTok Follower
There are two methods you can use to delete one of your TikTok fans.
- Visit your TikTok profile by tapping the icon at the bottom right of your home screen, click on “Followers” underneath your profile photo, scroll the list to find the account you want to remove, tap the three-dot icon beside their name, and choose “Remove this follower.”
- Visit the follower’s profile (either by searching for them by username or by clicking their name in a comment they’ve made on your video). Look for the icon showing a person with a checkmark next to it (it’s right beside the “Message” button, and tap it. That’s all you have to do.
Once you’ve unfollowed someone, their TikTok videos won’t appear in your “Following” tab, but you may see them in your “For You” feed. The action doesn’t stop them from seeing your content or profile, and they can still ask you to approve them as a follower again.
That’s not enough to satisfy you? You’ll have to block the TikTok user completely. Do that by visiting their profile, tapping the “Share” icon (a curved right arrow) at the top of the screen, choosing the “Block” option on the menu that appears, and confirming your decision.
If your goal is removing all of your followers and starting fresh, though, there’s no magic button or link that will do it. You’ll have to pull up your follower list and delete them all one by one. Just be careful not to remove more than 200 per day because that will look unnatural to the TikTok algorithms, and you could be shadowbanned for a while.
