TikTok Doesn’t Show URLs, So How Do You Copy A Link?

2 min read

It was so much easier in the good old days.

Before we all had social apps on our phones, we were on desktop computers or laptops. When we saw something online that we wanted to share via email with a friend or relative, or use in a document, we just had to right-click on the page URL at the top of the page, copy it, and then paste it wherever we wanted.

In the 2020s, social media platforms make it easy to share content with followers and friends. Some, like TikTok, even let you share it on other apps with just a couple of taps.

But what if you want to share great TikTok content with someone who isn’t on the app or another connected platform? There’s no URL at the top of your screen, so you can’t copy it and paste it anywhere. (In fact, many TikTok users don’t even know how to copy text from the app; it can often be difficult.)

Thankfully, there’s a shortcut that lets you copy a TikTok video’s URL with just two clicks. Read on.

How to Copy a TikTok Link

This is one of the easiest solutions to a TikTok problem you’ll ever find.

When you’ve found a TikTok post you love and you want to share the URL via email, post it elsewhere online, or put it into a document, here’s all you have to do.

  1. Tap the “Share” icon (a sweeping right arrow) in the post’s right-hand menu.
  2. Look for the “Copy link” icon (a paper clip)in the window that opens, and click it.
  3. A popup will tell you that the link has been copied to your clipboard.

You can now paste the link right into the email or anyplace you’d like. Tap and hold your finger on the area where you want to place the link and select “Paste” from the menu that appears.

See? Told you it was easy!

What To Expect When You Make A TikTok Video Private

It’s fairly obvious what happens if you decide to make your entire TikTok account private instead of public.
