In 2020, a new social app soared in popularity.
BeReal gained 50 million monthly users in its first few years and briefly seemed destined to become the next “big thing.” Each day, users were notified that they had two minutes to upload a dual-camera (front and back) video showing exactly what they were doing at that moment. No one could see anyone else’s “BeReal” until they’d uploaded their own for that day.
Other social media platforms launched their own versions of BeReal when it was at the height of its popularity. Instagram’s was called “Candid Stories” — and TikTok’s was launched as “TikTok Now.”
BeReal has lost tens of millions of monthly users since then, and neither Candid Stories nor TikTok Now ever caught fire. In fact, TikTok wound up discontinuing the function — but at least for the time being, old TikTok posts created by users making use of the “Now” feature are still available.
Is there any way to find and/or delete that old TikTok content? Read on.
How To Delete “Now” Memories on TikTok
Even though you can no longer upload new TikTok Now videos, your old posts can still be found.
- Open your TikTok profile by clicking on the “Profile” icon in the bottom-right corner of your home screen.
- Find the content grid in the middle of your profile, and tap the “Private” icon (a lock) above the thumbnails.
- If you’ve posted TikTok Now videos in the past, you’ll see a “Now” option at the top of the screen. Click on it.
- You’ll see a calendar showing each date that you posted a “Now” video. Choose a memory that you want to remove, tap on it to open it full-screen, click the three-dot icon, and then select “Delete.” Repeat the process for each TikTok Now memory you want to remove.
TikTok Now was a cool idea that simply didn’t catch on, but at least for now, you can still go back and revisit the dual-camera videos you created.
