Where Can I Find My TikTok Favorites?

3 min read

Many inexperienced TikTok users think that clicking “favorite” (the flag in the right-hand column on TikTok posts) saves a video they like to their device. It doesn’t.

Unless you specifically choose to download a video to your phone, tablet, or computer, anything you “save” on TikTok remains on the social media platform. Your favorites are saved to, and accessible from, a specific part of the app.

Where are they?

Finding Your Saved Favorites on TikTok

You can “favorite” sounds, effects, and other types of TikTok content, as well as videos. Here’s how to find them quickly.

  1. Go to your TikTok profile by tapping the “Profile” icon in the bottom-right corner of your home screen.
  2. Look in the middle of your profile screen for the “bookmark” icon. All of the content you’ve favorited will appear in a scrollable grid.
  3. If you’re like most people, you’ve bookmarked lots of TikTok videos, sounds, hashtags, and other items, so it can be difficult to find the content you’re looking for. Above the grid, you’ll see a row of categories like “Posts,” “Collections,” “Sounds,” and “Effects.” Tapping on the category name will bring up only the type of content you’re looking for.
  4. Collections can be a valuable way to sort your favorites. If you haven’t established any yet, just tap “Collections” and then “Create new collection,” enter a name for the group of videos, and then choose which videos should be moved. You’ll find it much easier to locate a favorite video when it’s in a much smaller collection.

Running into problems? Here’s what might be going wrong.

Why You Might Not See Your Favorites on TikTok

The issue is usually a technical problem that’s easily resolved. For one group of users, sadly, it’s a feature, not a bug.

Bookmarking isn’t supported on PCs and many computers running iOS, so if you’re on a laptop or desktop, you may not be able to find your favorites. You have two alternatives:

  1. Install a third-party mobile emulator on your computer (many people use BlueStacks) and then open TikTok in that third-party software.
  2. Hit “like” (the heart icon) on a video you want to be able to find and watch again, and then scroll through your “liked videos” (the heart icon in the middle of your profile).

The technical issues that might prevent you from seeing your favorites:

  • A temporary TikTok system glitch: If you’re having problems, wait a few minutes and try again. Problems at TikTok’s end don’t happen often, but they could be to blame. If the issue doesn’t resolve on its own or you know that the app works fine for other people, move on to the next possibilities.
  • The app or your device has locked up: try logging out and back in again, or restarting your phone.
  • Your network connection has been interrupted or is weak: try a different network or change your location.
  • Your TikTok cache is full: the cache is just short-term memory, and it can cause problems when it’s full. Clear it by going to your profile, tapping the menu icon (three horizontal lines at the top right of the screen), and then choosing Settings and privacy > Free up space. Click the “Clear” button next to “Cache.”
  • You have an old app version: visit the App Store or Google Play (depending on your device) to download the latest version.

You should now be all set to watch your favorite videos over and over.

Spicy TikTok: It’s Probably Not What You Think

TikTok’s terms and conditions and Community Standards prohibit content that includes nudity (or implied nudity), sexually suggestive or explicit material, and non-consensual intimate imagery.
