TikTok provides users with a ton of great insight into the people who view and engage with their content. Most of it can be found by checking an account’s TikTok analytics, found in the TikTok Studio (for personal accounts) and in the Business Suite (for business accounts).
However, some information is easy to glean just from looking at the lists of people who like and comment on your TikTok videos. It’s also helpful (and interesting) to check out a list of TikTok users who have visited your profile in the last 30 days.
How Do You See Profile Views?
Before the profile view list is generated, you have to enable a hidden setting. Open the TikTok profile menu by tapping the three horizontal lines at the top right of your profile page, choose “Settings and privacy,” and then go to Privacy > Profile views. Turn the “Profile view history” toggle switch on, and a list of your profile viewers will begin to be built.
To see the list, return to your profile screen and tap the two little footprints at the top of the page, next to your TikTok username. Visitors will begin being added once you’ve enabled the feature.
Not all visitors will be on the list, though. Here’s why: “profile view history” is a two-way street.
Enabling your profile views not only means you can see a visitor list, but also that your visits to other users’ profile pages will be visible to them. If the toggle is turned off, your profile visits will be invisible. It works the other way, too; for you to see that someone visited your profile page, they must also have turned on their “profile view history.” Otherwise, they’ll be invisible to you.
Even a partial list of profile visitors can be helpful, however, allowing you to see the types of TikTok users who were interested enough in your content to check out your profile.
Why Can’t I Turn on Profile Views on TikTok?
There’s another oddity involving profile views that we have to address.
Not everyone is eligible to see a list of their profile visitors; you may find that turning on the “profile view history” toggle isn’t an available option for you. That usually means you’re out of luck.
In order to turn on profile views, you must be at least 16 years old, and your TikTok account can’t have more than 5,000 TikTok followers. The first rule makes sense, but what about the second? TikTok says that displaying enormous lists of profile viewers could become unmanageable and present potential privacy issues.
In any event, one of those two issues is likely to blame if you can’t turn on your TikTok profile views. If you believe that you’re incorrectly being denied permission, the best approach is to contact TikTok support by choosing “Settings and profile” from your profile menu and then scrolling down to the “Support” link.
Best of luck!
